The Beaver Valley Skating Club has been in operation for over 50 years. We are a registered Skate Canada club. We offer a variety of programs.

History of the Beaver Valley Figure Skating Club

During Canada's Centennial year, 1967 , the B.V.A.A. made a decision to initiate a figure skating program in hte Beaver Valley. Until then the BVAA had only dealt with boys' sports. A Ladies' Auxiliary was formed to assist with this new program.
Following the BVAA motto "For Youth We Strive", their objective was to ensure that every child who wished to learn to skate was provided an opportunity to do so. Funds were raised for ice time and coaching through countless hours in the arena canteen, bake sales etc.

Rose Kusiar became our professional coach in 1975, making this her 35th year with the BVAA. In 2010 Rose decided to retire from being the Beaver Valley Figure Skating Club's Professional Coach. We want to thank her very much for her years of hard work and for the dedication she has shown to each and every one of her skaters! Rose has decided to not leave the Club entirely and will be running our Power Skating Program and will also offer Private Skate lessons to anyone who is interested. The Beaver Valley FSC would like to welcome Karen Verbrugge to our team! Karen will be our new Club Professional and will be working with the skaters in all of the different programs. We are looking forward to Karen's enthusiasm and skill that she will bring to our home ice! Karen writes, "My motivation is to introduce the sport of figure skating to skaters of all ages and abilities and to encourage and inspire every skater to set and achieve personal goals in a fun, safe and positive environment." Welcome aboard Karen! Today's Skating Club offers a variety of programs from Learn-To-Skate, Power Skating to of course Figure Skating.
