Senior Rookie

Senior Rookie

BVAA Senior rookie baseball

Senior Rookie is for 7-9 year olds.  Practices begin in April or May when the weather permits and games begin at the end of May.

The regular season runs through July (6 home games and 6 away games), with an end of season tournament at the end of July or beginning of August.

This division has most of the same rules as the Junior Rookie division.  What we find in this age group is that most of the kids have mastered the batting and the game becomes more of a fielder’s game.  The kids start to understand some of the more complicated plays of baseball (i.e. if a fly ball is caught they need to go back to their base and tag up; what a double play is; that if it is not a forced play you have to tag the runner not the base; etc.).

Baseball helps kids improve their concentration skills as they have to be aware of where the ball is at all times.  It is great watching these kids develop a greater appreciation and understanding of the game of baseball.
